With bold lines and nostalgic clarity, Vilakazi Street captures a simple yet powerful image: the brown road sign pointing toward Mandela House, nestled in the heart of Soweto. Grand Maghandlela's painting pays homage to one of South Africa’s most historically significant streets—the only street in the world to have housed two Nobel Peace Prize laureates: Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu.
This unassuming road sign, often passed without fanfare, becomes a marker of memory, struggle, and pride. The surrounding suburban calm contrasts with the immense history it gestures toward—an invitation to remember, to honour, and to journey.
Printed on Innova Décor Watercolour Art 245gsm fine art paper using archival pigment inks, each print is produced in the UK to museum-quality standards.
Every purchase directly supports Grand Maghadelda’s mission to fund an art school in South Africa, empowering the next generation of young artists.
