In Skebeen Queen, Grand Maghandlela honours the unsung heroines of township life—the women who brewed, hosted, and held communities together. At the heart of this scene stands the Skebeen Queen, a figure of quiet power and generosity, offering a round of homebrewed beer to patrons gathered outside her shack. The warm hues and textured brushwork capture not just a place, but a way of life: laughter, resilience, and togetherness under corrugated roofs and open skies.
